Google Changes AdSense Link Areas

Today Google changed the areas of the AdSense ads that are linked to include only the title and the URL, not the description and the surrounding area.

In a move meant to decrease the number of accidental clicks, Google has reduced the clickable area of the AdSense ads to the title of the ad and its URL below. Before this change, the description of the ad as well as the surrounding area (therefore the entire cell) were clickable. The new clickable areas are shown below:

AdSense New Zones

This will result in a decreased CTR for all webmasters, but especially those who earned money from accidental clicks, and hopefully an increased overall revenue per click, thus rather good news for web developers who did not register a significant number of accidental clicks.
